“Evangeline, The Queen of Make Believe” is a collaboration between Louie Perez of Los Lobos and About Productions creators Theresa Chavez and Rose Portillo. The Multimedia presentation will feature the songbook of Hidalgo and Perez, and is inspired by their song “Evangeline.”

Evangeline… a devoted daughter by day, a Hollywood go-go dancer by night. A journey of self-discovery by a young Chicana, who’s neighborhood roots and make believe world collide when she experiences the West Side art scene and the music of the Sunset Strip, is set against the 1968 student walkouts in East L.A. and the flight for equal education and civil rights. A nearly three year development process is about to come to fruition. “Evangeline, the Queen of Make Believe” begins performances May 3, with the official opening night scheduled for May 12 at the Bootleg Theater, in Los Angeles, CA.

Official Premiere May 12 – to May 27, all seats $32.
